HUNAGI SG was invited to the ISDE Summit 2008 Scientific Programme Committee

From our daily mail: Prof. Dr. Manfred Ehlers, President of the Society for Geoinformatics (GfGI) wrote to the SG of HUNAGI today:
"...The Society for Geoinformatics (GfGI) and the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) are organizing the ISDE Summit on ‘Geoinformatics: Tools for Global Change Research’.
The Society for Geoinformatics (German: Gesellschaft für Geoinformatik - GfGI) is a non-profit association for the advancement of the new scientific discipline Geoinformatics. Despite its roots in geography, geodesy and computer science (Informatics), Geoinformatics has evolved into an innovative scientific discipline in its own rights with a broad application range. Geoinformatics technology is used in navigation systems, visualization of global change, business applications (geomarketing), spatial data infrastructures, and ‘geotainment’ solutions (like Google Earth or digital cities in 3D). The major task for the GfGI is the definition of core concepts for research and education in Geoinformatics. Scientists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are members of the GfGI. For more explanation see www.gfgi.de .

The International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) is a non-political, non-governmental and not-for-profit international organization founded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Its principal role is the promotion of academic exchange, science and technology innovation, education, and international collaboration. The purpose of the society is to promote international cooperation on the Digital Earth vision, and to enable the Digital Earth technology to play key roles inter alia, in economic and social sustainable development, environmental protection, disaster mitigation, natural resources conservation and improvement of human beings’ living standard. For more information see
http://www.digitalearth-isde.org/.
Both societies, together with the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) and the GeoResearchCenter Potsdam (GFZ), will be responsible for the organization and the contents of the ISDE Summit. On behalf of the GfGI, I invite you to join our Scientific Program Committee which consists of international scientists from the fields of Geoinformatics, Earth Observation, and Global and Climate Change research...."
