30th Alpbach Summer School Austria, July 25 - August 3, 2006

The topic chosen for this year is "Monitoring of Natural Hazards from Space". Earth Observation, especially the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) programme will be among the subjects. The Alpbach Summer School is well-known for its high scientific quality. It is held annually and different topic is chosen each year. The topics of previous years have often been related to space physics or astronomy therefore the school might be less familiar to researchers within the area of earth observation and remote sensing. The summer school activities include lectures given by well-known scientists and workshops, including Mr. Gábor Csornai, Head of the FÖMI Remote Sensing Center, Budapest. The Summer School is open to European graduate students, postgraduate students, young scientists and engineers. Among the participants there are further representatives from the spatial data interest community HUNAGI supported by the Hungarian Space Research Office.
