Overview of HUNAGI related tasks accomplished and to be solved

After overviewing the recent achievements, decisions have been made related to the actions scheduled in the first Quarter of 2008 including domestic (including Presidential Board Meeting, HUNAGI Forum, EKMK-HUNAGI joint actions, CASCADOSS Meeting, GIS Open Conference) and international events (e.g. Ostrava Conference, EUROGI ExCom, GSDI-10 and EUROGI General Meeting). Some urgent actions related to the administration, financing and application for NCA grant were also discussed. The meeting was hosted by Zsolt Barkóczi, President of HUNAGI at the premises of VÁTI today.

The telecon was well attended and went through on a well prepared agenda under the chairmanship pf Executive Director Prof. Harlan Onsrud. The telecon infrastructure and inviting call was kindly arranged by USGS FGDC telecom facilities. Europe was well represented by GSDI President Jarmo Ratia, President-elect Prof. Bas Kok, EUROGI Secretary General Joao Geirinhas and EUROGI member Roger Longhorn as well as by the Hungarian member of the Board. Besides the Americans Alan R. Stevens, Prof. Harlan Onsrud, Doug Nebert and Edwin Hunt also PCGIAP was represented by Abbas Rajabifard from Melbourne. EIS-AFRICA is partner of EUROGI and also HUNAGI according to the AESI-Align EU project elaborated by EUROGI Vice President Bruce McCormack.
The Plenary was co-chaired by Guoguang Zheng (China), Zoran Stancic (European Commission), Philemon Mjwara (DST, South Africa), Conrad Lautenbacher (NOAA). Executive Director of the GEO Secretariat José Achache was also member of the panel. Deputy Director-General of Research of the European Commission Zoran Stancic received an up-to-date leaflet on HUNAGI today.

Headquarters of the World Meteorological Organisation in Geneva, Switzerland, which hosts the GEO Secretariat headed by Prof. Jose Achache.

After Washington DC, Tokyo and Brussels, the 4th GEO Plenary will take place in Africa now.

HUNAGI representative registered to the UIC (User Interface Committee) a satellite event of the Plenary. On the Plenary the Hungarian member of the Delegation of the GSDI Association will attend the mainstream together with FGDC, USGS, ESRI, CIESIN and OGC experts. A visit has been tentatively arranged to the Department of Architecture, Planning and Geomatics of the Cape Town University for 30th November by Professor Heinz Rüther, Council Member of ISPRS and Dr. Julian Smit, Senior Lecturer of the Geomatics Division.

New INTERREG IV C Proposal discussed by interested countries

Time for new action for the representatives of the land management experts of some European regions. Strategic talks in the Hotel Astoria, Budapest

Representatives of public institutions of the countries attended the FARLAND international conference on 21-22 November 2007 met this morning to discuss the topic and preparatory arrangements needed to launch a new project proposal in the INTERREG IVC programme of the European Commission.

The Hungarian point of contact Ms. Zsuzsa Flachner of RISSAC was represented by request by Gabor Remetey-Fülöpp at the meeting in the Astoria Hotel Podium Hall orchestrated by the project manager of the very successful FARLAND. Although not as an INTERREG partner on country level, there is a space also for NGOs to contribute to the new project's implementation on regional level.

Atmosphere, Solid Earth and products, tools and services related to Earth Observation are the themes in a IYPE-related HUNAGI Proposal to be submitted to the HAS-UNESCO founded Hungarian IYPE National Committee for approval

The building of the Hungarian Academy of Science, venue of the 2-day conference. The second day was devoted to "Atmosphere".
After the event short talk was arranged with Acedemician György Major, about the proposal of HUNAGI as contribution of the UNESCO-Hungarian Academy of Science driven National Action Plan of the International Year of the Planet Earth 2007-2008-2009.
it was agreed, Dr. László Bozó, new President of the Hungarian Meteorological Service will be informed on this proposed action via Academician Major. The HUNAGI draft proposal elaborated by Viktor Pusztai of EOGEO Hungary has the intention to establish a Hungarian interface of the NASA Global Change Master Directory in close cooperation with NASA partly in the CEOS WGISS framework.

Future Approaches to Land Development - FARLAND Project Conference in Budapest attracted 200 experts from 25 countries

The two-day Farland Conference was opened in the Bliber Events Hall today with the opening speaches delivered by Minister József Gráf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as well as Prof. Dr. Joachim Thomas, Chair of the Steering Committee of the INTERREG III C FARLAND.
FARLAND stands for "Future Approaches to Land Development". Among the 200 experts representatives of the HUNAGI member institutions including the Research Institute of the Agricultural Economy (AKII), the Research Institute of the Soil Sciences and Agrochemistry of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (RISSAC), Debrecen University, the University of West-Hungary Faculty of Geoinformatics, VÁTI, Capital Land Office, FAO SEUR were present.
HUNAGI and the coming EUROGI-DG JRC Workshop was mentioned to Mr. Frank van Holst, Chair and FARLAND project leader as a good opportunity to articulate the strategic message of the conference to the attendees of the Rome Workshop devoted to Public-Private Partnership for Spatial Data Infrastructure in the context of e-Government. The event was logistically organised by 4CLI (www.4cli.org).

GSDI Telecon scanned the next actions today

The telecon was organised based on the infrastructure of the USGS. FGDC arranged the outgoing calls including HUNAGI on the list.

GSDI-10 with the Heads of the Dutch and Norvegian Mapping and Cadastral Offices

The Telecon addressed a series of GSDI actions foreseen in 2008 and 2009.

By the request of the Executive Director Prof. Harlan Onsrud, HUNAGI member of the Board will compile a Liasion report for the GSDI-10 covering the CEOS WGISS, the GEO-IV plenary and the UNSDI/UNGIWG developments.

Also information on the final preparation related to the attendance of the GSDI Delegation at the GEO-IV Plenary will be held in Cape Town later next week was shared and discussed. CODATA-GSDI talks will be foreseen arranged by the Executive Director of GSDI. Later today, HUNAGI as member of GSDI accepted the invitation to attend the User Interface Committee meeting organised by NASA between 26-27 November.

PPP4SDI in the e-Government context

The traditional EU Industry Day organised by EUROGI now with the Institute of Environment and Secirity of the DG Joint Research Centre will be devoted to the topic Public-Private Partnership for Spatial Data Infrastructure in the context of e-Government.

The venue will be at the La Sapienza University of Roma and the host will be Prof. Dr. Mauro Salvemini, President of EUROGI.

UNIGIS exams at the WHU Faculty of Geoinformatics

The 2007 UNIGIS exams at the Faculty of Geoinformatics, West Hungary University were started on 16th November 2007 in Székesfehérvár. Two UNIGIS students of the 18 Ms.Lilla Lukács and Ferenc Speiser delivered their presentation in English and the Exam Panel chaired by Dean Prof. Béla Márkus had videoconnected via the internet and Skype with Prof. Strobl from the University of Salzburg to hear and discuss the presentations.
Just before the exams started, a working lunch with the Dean of the Faculty was an excellent opportunity to exchange of views and information on ongoing activities in UNIGIS, FIG, GSDI and EUROGI. Eg. after Los Angeles and Amsterdam, the next Annual Meeting of the UNIGIS Board will be hosted by Hungary.
Also an introductory talks with Ms. Chen Gaiyng of the Beijing University of Agriculture was kindly arranged by Prof.Márkus. The visiting scientist came last month for a 10-month stay at the WHU Faculty of Geoinformatics.

A Support Contract was signed yesterday by IHLET's Programme Director Béla Jarolics and the SG of HUNAGI.
The scope of the financial support is to stabilizestrengthen the international presence of HUNAGI (including annual membership fees for 2007 and 2008) and partially covering costs related to actions approved by the HUNAGI General Assembly.
HUNAGI will support IHLET's cross-country activities providing professional services related to knowledge and know-how transfer.

Local Government applied for HUNAGI Membership

The Mayor of Zalaegerszeg applied for membership in HUNAGI. This local government will be the second in the HUNAGI community. It is anticipated, the local governments will be the most important players in the implementation and use of SDI and associated services. Hungary has more than 3000 local governments. This is a real challenge and opportunity by the way for HUNAGI.

Synergy using GI/GIS in logistics

At the 15th Congress of the Hungarian Association of Logistics, Purchasing and Inventory Management two sessions were dedicated to innovative IT-based solutions mainly around the bar-code, active-passive RFID tags and related middleware and information systems and discovery services, web and wireless internet based applications as well as satellite positioning and navigation based location based services. HUNAGI and MLBKT has MoU since 2006 with the aim to provide synergy with the cross-fertilisation of the technologies and know-how. In the two sessions chaired by SG of HUNAGI, six presentations were demonstrating the importance of location/time/global object identification/attributes. Adding the sensor webs from local to global and the emerging SDI, totally new, innovative R+TD and spin-off products and services are anticipated.

The Opening of the Celebration of the Hungarian Science took place today at the Városmajor Gymnasium. Hosted by one of the best secondary school in the country well-known on its activities related to the global change and other hot issues on school-level and beyond, the event was participated by about 30 academicians, the most innovative representatives of the private sector and industry as well as by the pupils and their teachers. Academician Szilveszter E. Vizy, President of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences referred the importance of the interrelations of the education-science-economy as the challenging message of the 21st Century. Hungary will host the World Science Forum in the next days attracting so far five State Presidents, Head of UNESCO, The Club of Rome and more than 25 Ministers.

Former German Astronaut and Professor of the University of Stuttgart, Dr. Ernst Messerschmidt delivered a lecture during his visit in Budapest. The event was organised by the Vice-Rector of ELTE and Chair of Cartography and Geoinformatics Prof. Dr. László Zentai.

The Hungarian Astronaut Bertalan Farkas introduced a NASA video on the International Space Station. In the discussion part Prof.Messerschmidt expressed his view about the importance of knowledge and capacity building.

AGI will leave by 31 December. Ihlet has been acknowledged . The WAG International Affairs were presented by Bruce McCormack including the activities in Eastern Europe. Ihlet's Workshop in Brussels was explicite mentioned and evaluated as a good start but a lot to do. He circulated his contribution to the successful meeting organised by the Embassy of South Africa in Brussels entitled "Geoinformation in development cooperation: towards a policy and implementation framework". That meeting was attracted organisations such as the European Commission (AIDCO, DG Research, DG Development), UN (UNGIWG, WHO, GEOSEC), USAID, JICA, EUROGI, EIS Africa, Universities, Embassies of Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya as far as National GI Associations as IRLOGI and AFIGÉO. (HUNAGI was not able to participate due to the schedule conflict with HUNAGI FORUM held on the same date. ) The Data WAG related issues presented by Sandro Gizzi were also discussed.

After EUROGI the ExCom Meeting, President Prof. Mauro Salvemini introduced his new vision related to the reshaping, restructuring of EUROGI in order to strengthen its influence and acknowledgement.

Secretary General Joao Geirinhas made in-depth overview on the activities of the Organisation.

The host institution made excellent arrangement both in professional content and the Meeting-related logistics. Superb presentations were delivered by Professor António Camara of YDreams on Trends and new visions, followed by Anabela Pedroso of the Agency for the Administrative Modernisation who addressed the e-Government related aspects, finally by António Arnaud of the New University of Lisbon, who introduced the European project "Addresses", which is participated also by Hungary via FÖMI.

The host institution Portuguese Geographic Institute was also introduced by Deputy Director General Rui Pedro Juliao, the SDI by Danilo Furtado, while the market implementation was dealt by Dirk Tilsner of EDISOFT. All the contributions will be evaluated and synthetized and the outcome will be streamlined by a team of four (IRLOGI, SNIG PT, Autodesk and ESRI Europe).

Nearly 40 experts from all over the world representing regional and national space agencies, academia, prime contractors and organisations such as GSDI Association came together in Oberpfaffnhofen, Bavaria to attend the 24th Meeting od CEOS WGISS.
Te hst institution is the largest R+D institution in Germany having a staff about 5200 among them 2500 scientists and 500 *hd students. The Meeting was opened by Chair Ivan Petiteville of ESA ESRIN and Günther Schreier of DLR.

Albert A. Gore and the UN Commission on Climatic Change (IPCC) won the 2007 Nobel Prize for Peace
Al Gore's vision was the basics the Digital Earth initiatives having a series of international symposia in Beijing, Canada, Brno, Tokyo and Berkeley, Calif. HUNAGI joined in 2003 in Brno to the community and today keeps excellent working relation with the prominent International Society of Digital Earth established in Beijing in 2006 by the support of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the international Digital Earth community.

Laser scanning of the salt mine's interior in Turda

One of the most advanced measuring tool surveying the objects and indoor space the laser scanner of Leica was applied inside the Rudolf (St.Nicholas) Mine in Turda. The surveying experts of the Timisoara based company Black Light (actually an authorized Autodesk and Leica value added reseller: www.blacklight.ro) made the unique application to demonstrate the applicability of the Leica Scan Station system even in exteme environment.
The inner space of the Rudolf Mine closed in the early 30's of the last century is 38 m high, 80m length and 50 m wide.

Forging GIS applications in the region

In the Celebration Hall of the Kolozs County Municipality more than 70 experts and decision makers came together today to attend the 3-day Workshop.
HUNAGI representative was the first speaker with his presentation "Euro-atlantic Roundview" covering the major institutional networking related to SDI in country, European and global level.
In the European arena the legislation framework directive INSPIRE was highlighted and the EUROGI as well as the projects Humboldt, eSDI-Net+, Cascadoss and ePSIplus were shortly introduced. The rest of the day was devoted to case studies and discussions. Representatives of two HUNAGI member organisations delivered presentation: Tamás Prajzer of GeoX Ltd. and an expert of VARINEX Ltd. GeoX was a consortium member of the EC supported project together with Gallup Europe, Unicri, Max Planck Institute and Ceps in 2005 mapping the safety feeling in some European countries. Initiated by HUNAGI, a Meeting took place today between the Department of Land Administration and Geoinformation and HUNAGI. HUNAGI President Zsolt Barkóczi was received by Director General Gábor Horváth of DLAG of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The meeting was participated by SG of HUNAGI as well. After the exchange of views, the Meeting resulted some short term actions including
- the invitaltion of DLAG MoARD to the HUNAGI Forum devoted to the theme "Support of the multilevel governments by GI/GIS " will be held in Budapest on 11 October and
- the invitation of HUNAGI to give a message at the Meeting of the Heads of County Land Offices on 19 September 2007.

Trendsetting in virtual reality vs how to cope the daily reality

Invited by Editor-in-chief Dr. Szilárd Szabó a special meeting was hosted by VÁTI today in order to listen a summary given by Dr. Balázs Rátai of Carneades Consulting on "virtual reality" which will be one of the main topic of the Journal's next issue. The first impressions and feedbacks on the electronic version called terinformatika-online (http://www.terinformatika-online.hu/ ) was also discussed by representatives of HUNGIS and HUNAGI as well as companies Térképtár and CData.
Referring on the operating Térinformatika - HUNAGI cooperation, recommendation was made to use the Journal's capabilities e.g. to disseminate information and generate feedback from the users on the legislative framework developments in the EU, which will be binding for all players both in domestic and European dimension. Representative of the Hungarian GI Association mentioned, HUNAGI might be potential partner in seeking the opportunities to launch a Hungarian GIS/GI Yearbook (for 2008).

Next Ihlet Workshop Round hosted by Partners from two European Neighbour Countries in September 2007

Hosted by the Ukrainan and Serbian partners of the Ihlet Tisza Development Programme a workshop will be organised in Ukraina. The Workshop will be held in Crimea and the closing event will be hosted by the Ukrainan Parliament. More information on the technical content and participants will follow as soon as the organisers made it public. This is the second time that HUNAGI received invitation to the series of workshops arranged by Ihlet public benefit company. Ihlet rejoined HUNAGI in 2007 and applied for membership in EUROGI as representative of a cross-border organisation having over 40 member institutions and organisations in all the five countries of the Tisza Watershed Area.

"...The Society for Geoinformatics (GfGI) and the International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) are organizing the ISDE Summit on ‘Geoinformatics: Tools for Global Change Research’.
The Society for Geoinformatics (German: Gesellschaft für Geoinformatik - GfGI) is a non-profit association for the advancement of the new scientific discipline Geoinformatics. Despite its roots in geography, geodesy and computer science (Informatics), Geoinformatics has evolved into an innovative scientific discipline in its own rights with a broad application range. Geoinformatics technology is used in navigation systems, visualization of global change, business applications (geomarketing), spatial data infrastructures, and ‘geotainment’ solutions (like Google Earth or digital cities in 3D). The major task for the GfGI is the definition of core concepts for research and education in Geoinformatics. Scientists from Germany, Austria and Switzerland are members of the GfGI. The International Society for Digital Earth (ISDE) is a non-political, non-governmental and not-for-profit international organization founded by the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Outreach Activities (Workshops and Expert Meetings)

"Dear Colleagues,
In its resolution 61/110 of 14 December 2006 the United Nations General
Assembly agreed to establish the “United Nations Platform for Space-based
Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response – UN-SPIDER”, as
a new programme of the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs, to
provide universal access to all countries and all relevant international
and regional organizations to all types of space-based information and
services relevant to disaster management to support the full disaster
management cycle by being a gateway to space information for disaster
management support, serving as a bridge to connect the disaster management
and space communities and being a facilitator of capacity-building and
institutional strengthening, in particular for developing countries.
Within its plan of work, UN-SPIDER is organizing a series of workshops and
expert meeting bringing together experts and relevant professionals from
around the world with the aim of discussing and shaping the future
activities of this new programme. We have already sent out the announcement
of the first workshop which will be held in Bonn, Germany. The deadline for
sending in your application to be considered for the Bonn workshop is
Monday, 27 August 2007. We would also like to make you aware of other
workshops and meetings also planned and we hope that your organisation or
institution would consider participating and contributing to at least one

1.) United Nations International UN-SPIDER Workshop: “Space-based
Information and Solutions for Disaster Management and Emergency Response”
(Bonn, Germany, 29 to 31 October 2007).
Participation is limited to 80 persons.
Focus: Identification of relevant space-based information for Disaster
Management Support and Emergency Response; Definition of a Knowledge Portal
to ensure that relevant information is easily accessible and disseminated
to all interested end-users; Identification of existing and planned
Communities of Practice that contribute to bringing together the
space-based technology and disaster management communities; Discussion and
definition of a knowledge management and transfer framework; GEOSS Capacity
Building Task CB-07-02 - Knowledge Sharing for Improved Disaster Management
and Emergency Response, and; Harmonisation of the various existing
initiatives that are contributing to helping developing countries access
and use space-based technologies for disaster management and risk reduction

2.) 4th UN-wide Meeting on the Use of Space Technologies for Emergency
Response and Humanitarian Assistance (27 November 2007, Bangkok, Thailand -
back-to-back with the 8th UNGIWG meeting 28 – 30 November 2007, Bangkok,
Thailand).
Participation is limited to representatives from United Nations agencies
and from organisations and institutions interested in contributing to the
work of the United Nations in the area of space-based information for
disaster management, emergency response and humanitarian assistance. This
meeting is being organised together with UNESCAP.

3.) United Nations/China Regional UN-SPIDER Workshop: “Building Upon
Regional Space-based Solutions for Disaster Management and Emergency
Response” (03-06 December 2007, Guangzhou, China).
Participation is limited to 40 persons.
Focus: Presentation of the current status of space technology for disaster
management and emergency response within the region; Discuss the UN-SPIDER
awareness raising strategy proposal building upon examples of similar
successful strategies carried out by other organisations within the region;
Discuss the development of country profiles, user input for the
establishment of a UN-SPIDER Knowledge Portal and capacity building needs
in the region; Define ways and means of efficiently coordinating and
interacting with National Focal Points and the Network of Regional Support
Offices; Reflect on the best concepts for delivering support to both
national activities and to national planning and policies, that consider
the use of space-based technologies, and; Review and discuss activities to
be carried out by National Focal Points with the support from UN-SPIDER and
the Network of Regional Support Offices.

4.) United Nations/Sudan International UN-SPIDER Workshop: “Space-based
Solutions for Disaster Management and Emergency Response” (09-12 December
2007, Khartoum, Sudan).
Participation is limited to 100 persons, except the first day which will
have a total of 250 participants.
Focus: Presentation of the current status of space technology for disaster
management and emergency response within the region; Special session on the
use of space-based technologies and solutions to support complex
emergencies; Define ways and means of efficiently coordinating and
interacting with National Focal Points and the Network of Regional Support
Offices; Reflect on the best concepts for delivering support to both
national activities and to national planning and policies, that consider
the use of space-based technologies; Review and discuss activities to be
carried out by National Focal Points with the support from UN-SPIDER and
the Network of Regional Support Offices; Discuss the development of country
profiles, user input for the establishment of a UN-SPIDER Knowledge Portal
and capacity building needs in the region, and; Discussion and update of
“The Khartoum Vision: a Vision for Building Partnerships in the Use of
Space Technologies”.

5.) United Nations/Austria UN-SPIDER Workshop: Network of Regional Support
Offices (07-09 February 2008, Salzburg, Austria).
Participation is limited to 40 persons.
Focus: Bring together representatives of the Network of Regional Support
Offices to discuss and coordinate the implementation of the UN-SPIDER
activities for 2008-2009.

HUNAGI makes effort to fill the gap

Except the new Baltic Republics, Hungary is the only EU Member States, which is not represented in the European Council of Geodetic Surveyors (CLGE). Just before the CLGE's General Assembly will be held in Luxembourg based on the recent communication of Secretary General Ms. Gerda Schennach, HUNAGI started a promotional activity towards the Hungarian Chamber of Engineers, the Society of Hungarian Surveying Enterpreneurs and the Society of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing to consider to fill this gap in the interest of the Hungarian surveyors community. As first action the awareness raising formulated in the Hungarian newsblog http://hunagi8.blogspot.com/ today will be shared with the relevant officers of the aforementioned organisations.

The URLs say "members" but that is a misleading term, and we now say "affiliate" which makes it clearer that there is some shared interestbut no obligation or commitment involved - wrote Professor Buckland in his letter today. HUNAGI will arrange the set up of a HistoryGIS Task Force with link to ECAI inviting experts, researchers and PhD students of acknowledged Hungarian workshops such as the ELTE Chair of Cartographic Science and Geoinformatics, Institute of Historical Science of the Hungarian Academy of Science, Faculty of Geoinformatics, West Hungary University.

" My colleague Professor Ray Larson, who handles the information retrieval aspects of our work and has published research on the ranking of geo-spatial data in retrieval systems, will be in Budapest in mid-September for the European Conference on Digital Libraries (Sept 16-21) http://www.ecdl2007.org/index.php and the Cross Language [Information Retrieval] Evaluation Forum, 19-21 September, where he is one of the organizers of the Cross-Language Geographical Information Retrieval (GeoCLEF) track " Professor Buckland wrote. This will give the opportunity to meet and share views and submit information on the achieved Hungarian results, ongoing activities and/or planned actions.

Prof. emeritus Dr. István Joó passed away

Prof. Dr. Sc. István Joó, maybe the most influencial Hungarian personality of the profession of geodesy, surveying and mapping died after five decades of active carrier on 5th August 2007

His activity established the fundaments of the Spatial Data Infrastructure and thanks to his vision and ambitions Hungary has two centres of excellence at FÖMI: the Satellite Geodetic Observatory and the worldwide known Remote Sensing Centre.

After leaving his leading position at the Department of Lands and Mapping in the Ministry of Agriculture, he became professor and director general of the College on Surveying Land Management (today: Faculty of Geoinformatics) of the University of West Hungary at Székesfehérvár, and Editor in Chief of the Journal Geodéza és Kartográfia. He was also re-elected President of the Hungarian Society of Surveying, Mapping and Remote Sensing. As distinguished member of the Committee of Geodetic Science of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences his contribution to the achievments in geosciences is also widely acknowledged.

EUROGI and HUNAGI participates the ePSInet Thematic Meeting focusing on PSI re-use business
The first European Associations Meeting maximising the re-use of PSI within Europe will be held in Copenhagen on 31 August 2007. EUROGI President Professor Mauro Salvemini will represent the organised pan-european GI communities in the session of the European Associations. Other entities include FEP and PRIMET.
In the session devoted to the National Associations HUNAGI is so far one of the 7 invited associations representing the e-content and GI/GIS communities from Bulgaria, Finland, Czech Republic, Germany, Latvia and United Kingdom. This session will be moderated by the Austrian Gerhard Wagner of ePSIplus. Additional presentations by national associations and projects will inlude ACCIS, ETIS and IntellectUK whilethe afternoon session will be devoted to debates around well defined issues moderated by Chris Corbin of ePSIplus former director of AGI and Member of the EUROGI Executive Committee.
Meeting Reference Materials as suggested by the ePSInet (http://www.epsiplus.net/) include a series of 3 reports published by the GINIE (Geographic Information Network in Europe) project (November 2003) providing comprehensive information about surveys and analysis of European Geographic Information (GI) organisations. These reports are excellent sources of information and remain relevant today. These reports are useful reference material for this meeting.
